Tip #1: Gather all your cleaning tools

Round up your cleaning supplies, such as a vacuum, floor polishers, broom, mops, microfiber clothes, gloves, and wipes in a bin. Trust me; this will make your job much more comfortable if all your supplies are in a clean place and easy to find when you need them. Cleaning tools such as a sponge, mop, squeegee, cleaning brush, and microfiber cloths can harbour bacteria and debris when dirty. If your cleaning tools are in poor condition, you will need to get new ones to avoid infections, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. But if they are in good condition, everything will be much easier to get the job done, and they will help you get your house sparkling.

  • Paper towels
  • Pair of cleaning gloves
  • Toilet brush
  • White vinegar
  • Wipes
  • Floor polisher
  • Vacuum or steamer
  • You will need a Swiffer Dusters. I like this because it has an extended handle, which will make your job easier when dusting electronics. It also helps when dusting furniture, knick-knacks in your home or office, blind spots, and even your ceiling fans.
  • You will need an angle broom or a push broom if the area is big and a dustpan for cleaning your floor. You can also use a shark Rocket Ultra-Light Upright vacuum. This one can be converted to a handheld vacuum for versatile floor-to-ceiling cleaning.
  • I like Vileda EasyWring Microfibre Spin Mop because it helps me raised the water from the mop quickly. If you want to finish the job faster, Vileda EasyWring Microfibre should be your first choice. However, if you have a regular mop stick and a Wring bucket, you can go for it as long as you feel comfortable using it. The only thing is to make sure you’re enjoying your cleaning up process, not spending too much time cleaning your floor and not seeing efficient results.
  • I also recommend the Telescoping pole; you can use it for indoor and outdoor window glasses. This is also good if you’re cleaning the upstairs windows or if you live in the apartment. You can also use the Ulihome Professional Window Squeegee with Scrubber. This is a 3-in-1 Squeegee Window Cleaner with Spray Head, with all Purpose Outdoor Glass Cleaning Kits for Shower and High Windows.

Tip #2: Get rid of the clutter in every space.

Before you even start dusting, pick up all the clutter. Start by making your bed when cleaning the bedrooms, brush your couches with a cleaning brush and reorganize pillows. Put away all the magazines, boxes, books, and find them a home place. Load your dishwasher or wash them by hand. And make sure you hand dry them as well. Leaving them out to dry will leave the space feel cluttered. Some people prefer to dust the entire house and organize spaces simultaneously instead of going room by room. I can’t say that’s a bad idea if they are okay with that. But starting by going to each room at a time and tackling down one piece of furniture is a great option. It’s best to begin from the bedrooms to the living room and then to the kitchen.

Tip #3: Start from the bedrooms.

Starting from bedrooms coming down to the living room then to the kitchen makes your cleaning process simple and faster. But it is essential to consider the structure of your house. If it is a storey house, then you will need to begin from top to bottom. If your bedrooms are downstairs, I recommend starting from upstairs. Cleaning is much more efficient and much easier if you pick one task at a time and clean the dirtiest areas such as the bathrooms last to avoid brig infections to the other rooms. Please don’t get caught focusing on one spot for a long time; it will make you feel like you are in an endless cleaning circle. Entering from one room to another room at a time will help you end the cycle as soon as possible.

Tip #4: Bathroom cleaning

Bathrooms are at least unappealing places to clean for many people; that’s why it should be your last place in your cleaning process. Bathtubs, toilets, shower-heads, and other surface areas take elbow grease to get cleaned, especially if you get to clean the wrong way. You only need the proper cleaning techniques to make your cleaning pleasant. However, it is crucial to invest some time into making them sparkle. Start with soaking your bathroom sink in distilled vinegar for up to 10 minutes, then scrub out the dissolve dirt and stains. Pour a cup of baking soda in the toilet bowl, let sit for an instant and then flash and brush. Don’t forget the outside surfaces of the toilet bowl. Use wipes for the toilet lid and the surface. Spray the bathroom grime purpose area and let it stand for a few minutes, then scrub and wipe the inside and outside of the tub. Use a special squeegee to sweep and mop bathroom floors. From the farthest corner of the bathroom and move backward toward the doorway. If necessary, clean and rinse your squeegee more time during the process.

Tip #5: Spray your house.

Effective house cleaning

It is obvious for the house to smell vinegar after cleaning. So it’s best to use your Febreze Air Freshener disinfection to spray the solution on all the surfaces in your house, including mirrors, windows and glass surfaces. Wait up to 6-10 minutes to wipe the spray off using a microfiber cloth and follow it with a paper towel and wipe. By doing so, you will remove dirty marks on all the mirrors and glass surfaces. Wipe down all surfaces through the house, counter-top, kitchen appliances, crumbs, sticky spots on your floors, disinfecting, and spot-cleaning them.

Now that you get a gist of some cleaning tips and tools, please don’t do it all by yourself and get overwhelmed; let your family get involved. Work together, and have fun.
